MOSCOW, November 28 (RAPSI) - The amount of grave crimes decreased by 40 per cent in Moscow in the prior six years, mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced on Monday.

Particularly, the number of such offences as murder, kidnapping, infliction of harm to health and acts of abuse dropped, the mayor’s official website quoted Sobyanin as having said.

Moreover, in 2016, the amount of pickpocketing decreased by 7 per cent. According to Sobyanin, over 80,000 Muscovites and visitors annually fall victims to pickpockets and other street thieves.

In the last two years, the rate of crimes committed by migrants dropped by 30 per cent.

The mayor noted a valuable role of modern devices for video and photo fixation in crime disclosure. Thus, effectiveness of using video cameras during investigation of offences has increased by 70 per cent since the beginning of the year.
