MOSCOW, March 17 (RAPSI) – The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office has identified embezzlement of over one billion rubles ($17.2 mln) allocated from budget for employment of disabled people, the Office’s press-service announced on Friday.

According to the prosecutors, twenty criminal cases were launched after signs of large-scale fraud had been identified by law enforcement agencies.

Several measures were taken regarding this situation. First, Moscow authorities stopped providing financial help to employers of disabled people in advance. Second, criteria for choosing employers in this sphere were changed. Third, new strategy for employment of disabled is currently being developed.
