MOSCOW, April 28 (RAPSI) – President Vladimir Putin has entrusted Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev with implementing legislative measures to improve the state information system’s security and protect personal data of Russian citizens, the Presidential press office announced on Friday.

According to the order, it is necessary to stipulate a set of principles for data processing in the state information systems. Particularly, it is important to minimize the scope of processed personal data required for solving problems laid upon information systems.

Putin also instructed to provide for compulsory record-keeping and registration of all actions and identification of participants involved in processing of personal data by law. Moreover, handling procedure for personal data must be certificated and coordinated, the statement reads.

Personal data should be held in the electronic form in information systems by places of their origin.

The instruction is to be executed until December 1, 2017.
