MOSCOW, August 11 (RAPSI) – Russia’s communications watchdog Roskomnadzor has recorded decrease in violations revealed in mass media in the first half of 2017, according to the regulator’s statement.

The number of completed administrative violation reports in this field reduced by 7.1% compared to a year earlier. Amount of the detected violations dropped by 25.2%, the watchdog reported.

According to Roskomnadzor, its preventive work factored into the decrease of violations. As a result, responsibility of media improved concerning enforcement of rules and regulations prescribed by law. The watchdog regularly holds meetings with media representatives and clarifies law provisions with the aim of preventing violations in mass media, the statement reads.
