MOSCOW, September 25 (RAPSI) – The Russian Accounts Chamber, the body of external public audit and control, announced on Monday that ten criminal cases were launched in the first half of 2017 after its inspections. 

In the examined period, the Chamber forwarded 79 records to the law enforcement agencies with 57 of them transferred to the Prosecutor General’s Office. Cooperation between the agencies is carried out based on collaboration agreements.

Prosecutor’s offices made 69 submissions on elimination of law violations based on the results of inspections provided by the Chamber with 22 officials being brought to liability and the launch of 19 administrative cases.

One of the most notorious violations identified by the Chamber is alleged embezzlement of state funds allocated for environmental program in the Southern Federal District of Russia estimated at 751.6 million rubles (about $13.1 million).
