MOSCOW, December 26 (RAPSI) – The Russian Accounts Chamber, the body of external public audit and control, revealed over 6,500 violations involving 1.9 trillion rubles (about $32.9 billion), a statement on the official website of the Chamber reads on Tuesday.

The Chamber stated that in 2016 only 3,900 violations were found and those involved only 965 million rubles (about $16.7 million), yet fewer violations caused losses to the federal budget or the state.

The most common violations are related to government procurement, budgets and accounting.

As a result of the Chamber’s actions, Russian budget returned 18.8 billion rubles (about $326.3 million), the statement reads.

In 2017, inspectors of the Chamber launched 389 administrative cases with 267 of them being already reviewed by courts. Information provided by the Chamber served as base for launching 20 criminal cases with 84 cases more being preliminary investigated. Among the criminal cases, 8 are related to infamous construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

It is noted that 119 officials and 11 legal entities were subjected to administrative liability. Overall, amount of fines reached 23.4 million rubles (about $406,000) in total.
