MOSCOW, May 30 (RAPSI) – Criminal cases over non-payment of wages should be closed if an employer pays debt within 2-3 months, Russian ombudsman for protection of business’ rights Boris Titov has stated.

The ombudsman has proposed to close these cases within 2-3 months after an employer pays the value of accumulated wages in full. This is an adequate amount of time to solve the problems with state companies and suppliers or to find funds for further recrediting.

According to Titov, the number of criminal cases of this kind is rising, although it is usually impossible to prove malice or personal interest in actions of defendants. Problems with paying wages almost always result from negative economical situation, the ombudsman said.
