MOSCOW, June 27 (RAPSI) – The Moscow department of Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has launched a case against Raiffeisenbank over unlawful use of 2018 FIFA World Cup’s symbolic in advertisement, the watchdog’s statement reads.

According to FAS, the bank offered discounts in bars and restaurants located in Moscow and St. Petersburg for the duration of the championship. In the advertisement Raiffeisenbank used images associated with football as well as an image of a person consuming beer.

The bank also published advertisement in Instagram under the slogan of “Support our team” with an image of a tournament cup similar to FIFA trademark, FAS noted. The case will be reviewed on June 29.

Under the law on the procedure of hosting 2018 FIFA World Cup any marketing, including sale of goods and advertisement is prohibited if it exploits images of FIFA or its championships without permission of the organization.
