MOSCOW, June 29 (RAPSI) – A criminal case has been opened against officers of the Federal Customs Service’s Central Customs Administration on suspicion of receiving a 5-million-ruble bribe ($80,000), the Investigative Committee’s press service reports.

A businessman, who has allegedly given the bribe, is also a suspect in the case.

According to investigators, in the spring of 2018, several officers of the Moscow customs directorate conducted an unscheduled field inspection of a shopping mall. As part of the inspection, they allowed owners of the mall’s shops to substitute expensive furs, which were subject to the customs control, with the cheaper ones. The suspects received a bribe amounting to 5 million rubles in return, the statement reads.
