MOSCOW, March 26 (RAPSI) – More than 1,300 officials were fired out in 2018 because of loss of trust resulted from corruption offences, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia reports on its official website on Tuesday.

The number of officials discharged last year for the said reasons has increased as compared to 2017 (1,251 dismissed officials).

Dismissal of officials because of loss of trust in connection with corruption offences is one of the most effective tools in the fights against corruption; this disciplinary sanction is more often applied in Russia at the instigation of prosecutors, according to prosecutors.

Serious corruption offences giving rise to the officials’ discharge because of collapse in confidence include willful non-disclosure of earnings, expenditure, assets and property-related obligations, failure to settle competing interests, conducting a business in breach of anti-corruption ban, the statement reads.
