Putin urges judges to detain businessmen on remand more rarely
MOSCOW, June 20 (RAPSI) – President of Russia Vladimir Putin during his annual television call-in show on Thursday called courts to choose detention for businessmen under investigation sparingly.
Moreover, he proposed to use bail as a restrictive measure on a more frequent basis along with house arrest and travel restrictions.
However, according to the President, judges must not entirely omit this measure of restraint as men of wealth can therefore repeatedly commit crimes and endlessly pay off. This should never come to pass, Putin stressed answering the question of the civil ombudsman for protection of detained businessmen’s rights Alexander Khurudzhi.
