Valentina Matviyenko reelected as chair of upper house of Russian parliament
MOSCOW, September 25 (RAPSI) – Russian senators have reelected Valentina Matviyenko as the chairperson of the Federation Council, a statement of the parliament’s upper house reads.
Matviyenko has been heading the Federation Council since 2011. A decision to nominate her for election again has been made at the meeting of the upper house’s Council.
Earlier, the St. Petersburg governor Alexander Beglov signed an order to appoint Matviyenko to serve as a representative of the city in the Federation Council.
