MOSCOW, December 28 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova received over 9,000 applications in 2020, according to a statement on her Instragram page.

The coronavirus spread became a global challenge for the humanity this year and touched nearly all spheres of public life. A few days into the pandemic the Ombudsman’s Office became popular with citizens, Moskalkova said.  “We could see tensions between the human freedom and commonwealth”, she wrote.

According to Moskalkova, most complaints concerned protection of labour rights, separation of families because of closed borders, problems in return to homeland, freedom of movement and travel around the country amid coronavirus restrictions and observation conditions.

As a result of the work on the filed applications, more than 5,000 people got aid in the restoration of their rights, the Ombudsman reported.
