MOSCOW, January 21 (RAPSI) – Russia’s High Commissioner for Human Rights Tatiana Moskalkova received 9,500 applications concerning protection of social rights in 2020.

The most vital issues are problems in the housing sector and housing and utilities infrastructure (39% or 3,786 complaints); social maintainance (20% or 1,927 complaints in 2020), the Ombudsman said during a meeting with the Federation Council’s Committee on Thursday.

Mostly, the complaints touched pensions and their amount, monthly payments and social benefits, welfare assistance, inaccessibility of social institutions and conditions there, rehabilitation equipment and development of infrastructure of the barrier free environment for physically challenged people.

According to Moskalkova, in 2020, there was also a 30% rise in the number of applications concerning employment and labor (1,393).
