MOSCOW, January 16 - RAPSI. Renowned writer Eduard Limonov, the leader of The Other Russia party, was fined by the Magistrate's Court for violating opposition rally procedures in Moscow on December 31, 2011, a Moscow district court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com).

The police stopped the opposition rally on New Year's Eve in Moscow.

The court said Limonov denied the charges in court, saying he had been detained before he reached the square where the rally was to be held.

"The court heard the parties and decided to hold Limonov liable for administrative offenses," the court said.
