MOSCOW, May 3 - RAPSI. Italian Geox S.p.A. shoe company filed a lawsuit to protect its exclusive rights to its trademarks and trade name.

The lawsuit was lodged against www.geox.ru web site administrator Dmitry Sevyan and a book keeper of the Regional Network Informational Center. The plaintiff is seeking to recover 100,000 rubles ($3,400) from the defendants in compensation for damage.

Geox requested the court to impose interim measures by forbidding the transfer of web site administration functions to third parties and prohibiting the reregistering of the domain owner. However, the court turned the request down as it considered the position unfounded.

Geox was founded in early 1990's and entered the Italian stock exchange in 2004. The company designs, produces and sells clothes and shoes all over the world.

The Moscow Commercial Court will hear the lawsuit on May 18.
