MOSCOW, July 23 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court on Tuesday upheld detention of an assistant to the presidential envoy in the Ural Federal District Alexander Vorobyev in a treason case, RAPSI reported from the courtroom.

He will stay jailed until September 4.

The appeal hearing was held behind closed doors as the case was classified.

According to the Ural Federal District’s website, Vorobyev, 39, holds a candidate of legal sciences degree. In the summer of 2018, he was appointed as the assistant to the presidential envoy in the Ural Federal District.

He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
