Moscow, April 22 – RAPSI. Corruption in the military has led to 176 million rubles in losses for the Russian government in the past three months alone, Alexander Sorochkin, the head of the Investigatory Committee’s Military Investigation Department, announced today.
“The cases opened in the first quarter of this year account for 176 million rubles in losses,” he said.
Sorochkin added that the department has seen increased corruption as of late among servicemen.
“The annual increase had been seven percent as of 2007, but it has reached 17 percent for the past year,” the major general stressed.
