MOSCOW, August 25 - RAPSI. The chief of the Interior Ministrys main department for Moscow Region police Col. Gen. Nikolai Golovkin has testified in an infamous illegal casino ring case, reported a RIA Novosti correspondent from the Investigative Committee building, where the interrogation was held.
At around 14:30 MT Golovkin arrived for the interrogation, and left the building at 15:45 declining comment to journalists.
Golovkin is involved in the case as a witness.
Earlier, the Committees officials searched Golovkins office as part of its investigation of the illegal casino network in Moscow Region.
Uncovered several months ago, the high-profile Moscow Region illegal gambling scandal incited a major public uproar. Businessman Ivan Nazarov allegedly operated illegal casinos in 15 towns across Moscow Region. According to law enforcement authorities, several high-ranking officials of prosecutors offices and the federal Interior Ministry were involved in the casino operation, which generated between $5 million and $10 million in revenue monthly.
