MOSCOW, September 22 - RAPSI. The Military Prosecutor's office discovered a multi-million ruble fraud in the Armed Forces, the General Prosecutor's office reported on Thursday.
Millions of budget funds appropriated for troopers engaged in counterterrorism operations in the North Caucasus were embezzled.
Financial officers forged court documents to write off millions of rubles; meanwhile, the superior commandant and regulatory services turned a blind eye on the frauds, the General Prosecutor's office said.
Prosecutors discovered that over 113 million rubles ($3.6 million) were stolen in two years.
The accused bought expensive cars, real estate and deposited the stolen funds into banks.
