MADRID, April 3 - RAPSI. A Spanish judge named Princess Cristina of Spain as a suspect in a corruption case currently pending against her husband, according to Spanish news agency El Pais.
She has been ordered to testify before the court on April 27.
The princess’ husband Iñaki Urdangarin has been accused of having embezzled millions of Euros in public funds by way of overcharging regional administrations for sporting events carried out by his purportedly non-profit organization Nóos Institute.
Undargarin’s former business partner and co-accused, Diego Torres, reportedly provided presiding Judge José Castro with numerous emails implicating members of the Spanish royal family.
The emails reportedly contained evidence of Urdangarin having reached out to his wife for advice on various business matters.
Princess Cristina is Spanish King Juan Carlos’ youngest daughter.
