MOSCOW, October 3 (RAPSI) – Chief Justice of Indonesia’s Constitutional Court Akil Mochtar was arrested Wednesday over allegations that he had accepted upwards of $250,000 in bribe money, the AFP reported Thursday.
Mochtar was reportedly arrested at his Jakarta home as a businessman and a lawmaker were preparing to hand him a large sum of money connected with a disputed election in the island of Borneo’s Gunung Mas district, the AFP reported citing a spokesman for the Corruption Eradication Commission.
Both the businessman and the lawmaker were reportedly arrested at Mochtar’s house as well, and –according to the report – the Gunung Mas district’s head and another individual were arrested shortly thereafter.
