KRASNOYARSK, November 28 - RAPSI. A court will hear on December 16 the prosecutor's office's claim to order the Boguchany hydropower plant to assess the future environmental impact of its hydraulic facility, the court told RIA Novosti on Monday.
The prosecutor's office earlier claimed to complete the environmental impact assessment by January 1, 2012.
It was previously reported that the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Russia asked the Russian president to suspend the plant's construction until the environmental impact assessment is completed.
The construction of the power plant started in 1980, but was suspended in 1994 due to the lack of financing. Work on the project resumed in 2006 when RusHydro and Rusal agreed to jointly develop the Boguchany Energo-Metallurgical Union project jointly.
