KIEV, January 26 - RAPSI. The defense of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has filed on Thursday an appeal to the Ukrainian Supreme Specialized Court for Considering Criminal and Civil Cases against the "gas case," Tymoshenko's attorney told RIA Novosti.
Tymoshenko was sentenced in October to seven years in prison for abuse of power in signing gas contracts between Ukraine's Naftogaz and Russia's Gazprom in 2009. In late December she was taken to the Kharkiv penal colony. Soon after the sentence was passed, the tax police resumed the investigation into four criminal cases against her.
