MOSCOW, February 10 - RAPSI. A commercial court will hear on March 11 the cassation appeal by AlfaStrakhovanie against the recovery of $3.68 million in indemnity payment for the Federal Grid Company of the Unified Energy System, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) on Friday.
The company asked the court to recognize a 2008 accident at a substation in which its assets were damaged as an insurable event and to recover from the company 109.456 million rubles ($3.68 million).
The court has satisfied the appeal filed by the grid and dismissed the first-instance court's ruling to recover as little as 8.558 million rubles ($287,830) from the insurer as opposed to the 109.5 million rubles ($3.68 million) initially claimed.
The insurer rejected the grid's claims. It said in the hearings that its fully -owned subsidiary Glavsetservice repaired the substation and caused the accident alongside with the grid's personnel.
The Federal Grid Company was established in 2002 as part of Russia's power engineering reforms. The company controls the country's main transmission lines. The government is its major shareholder.
AlfaStrakhovanie is part of the Alfa Group financial and industrial consortium. It offers over 100 insurance products, including life and accident insurance through 390 regional branches.
