MOSCOW, February 13 - RAPSI. The Chamber for Patent Disputes' panel has upheld an alcohol producer's appeal and registered the "Volodya i Medvedi" (Volodya and the Bears) trademark, the patent watchdog reports on Monday.
The Royalty alcohol producer sought to register the trademark for alcoholic beverages, beer, juices and sparkling waters. Rospatent rejected the trademark application in October 2010, stating that the trademark would damage the country's image and public interests.
Royalty protested Rospatent's decision in December. However, the Chamber for Patent Disputes dismissed the protest.
Royalty appealed the trademark rejection in the Moscow Commercial Court. The court ordered the watchdog on September 12 to register the trademark. The appeals court upheld the decision on December 12, 2011.
