St. Petersburg, March 11 - RAPSI. A St. Petersburg court will start hearing the criminal case against Vyacheslav Datsik, a nationalist and a former kickboxer, on March 15.
Datsik, who goes by the nickname "Ginger Tarzan," is accused of violent robbery and arson of a church, his attorney Vadim Degtyarev reported earlier.
Russian national was detained with a loaded handgun after seeking asylum in an Oslo immigration office in September 2011. In late December, a Norwegian court sentenced him to eight months behind bars for illegally carrying a handgun.
He was then deported to Russia for prosecution.
Datsik was arrested in Russia in 2007 and accused of a series of robberies of cell phone shops in St. Petersburg. Russian psychiatrists declared him schizophrenic, absolving him of criminal liability for the robberies.
Datsik is reported to be a member of the Slavic Union ultranationalist movement, banned in Russia but reportedly having an office in Norway.
The psychiatric examination, conducted last November, found Datsik in sound mind.
