MOSCOW, March 23 - RAPSI. The Supreme Court's civil cases board invalidated on Friday the warning strikes held by Ford plant employees in the Leningrad Region in 2011 due to unsatisfactory labor conditions.
The court did not satisfy the trade union's appeal. In its application, the trade union stated that the November strike was held lawfully under the labor code's standards.
Ford lawyers do not agree. They referred to the Leningrad Region Court, seeking to invalidate the strikes. After the appeal, they confirmed their position in the Supreme Court.
"Anyway, this was a strike, no matter whether it was a warning or not, and it was conducted with numerous violations," the company said on Friday.
About 2,000 people work at the only Ford plant in Russia, which opened in July 2002. It can produce up to 125,000 cars per year. In 2009, it manufactured about 40,000 cars. In 2010, the plant manufactured 80,000. The plant mostly produces the Focus and Mondeo models.
