MOSCOW, March 26 - RAPSI. Almost all Russians, who submitted lawsuits to a U.S. court over a 30-hour flight delay in 2010, agreed to settle the dispute out of court.
The plaintiffs maintain that they bought the tickets for Aeroflot's March 13, 2010, flight from New York to Moscow, but the flight was delayed more than 30 hours due to the storm.
The plaintiffs also assert that during the 30-hour delay, Russia's flagship airline Aeroflot violated their rights under Sections 99 (financing of investigating the accident) and 117 (airlines responsibility for inflicting harm to life or health of a passenger) of the Russian Federation Aerial Code. Meanwhile, the documents do not specify how exactly the rights were violated.
Russia's flagship airline denied all claims stating that it acted in good faith and gave the plaintiffs no reasons to accuse it of negligence and require compensation.
Fourteen of fifteen plaintiffs have accepted the settlement offer proposed by the defendant. The attorney yet failed to get in touch with the fifteenth plaintiff to tell him of the terms offered by the defendant. Therefore the court announced a break giving the lawyers additional time to talk with the last plaintiff.
RAPSI has no details on the terms of the settlement.
