MOSCOW, April 2 - RAPSI. Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov believes the establishment of commercial courts with foreign lawyers will boost foreign investments in Russia.
"We can develop our own institution of commercial courts and trial courts, and improve our justice system. And one way to attract foreign investments in the country, which may actually seem unorthodox, is the establishment of a comprehensive commercial court that must secure the involvement of prominent, credible foreign lawyers," he said during a briefing with journalists.
He noted that the court would consider cases in compliance with adopted rules and standards.
Konovalov added that the new commercial court could employ retired judges from the UK.
"For example, Qatar and other countries, eager to break into international markets pursue this route," the minister said, adding that such a court might be established in the future.
