MOSCOW, April 10 - RAPSI. The Lefortovsky District Court in Moscow has issued arrest warrants in absentia for the suspects in a plot to kill Russian top officials, including Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Kazakhstan national Ilya Pyanzin and Chechen Adam Osmayev have been charged with several criminal offences, including an attempted assassination on an official. Both are facing up to 20 years in jail.
The media reports that the suspects contemplated assassinating the officials right after the March 4 presidential elections.
Pyanzin and Osmayev were arrested in Ukraine where they were charged with terrorist act preparation and terrorist group membership.
In view of the new charges, their extradition to Russia has been delayed. Until the case, opened in Ukraine, is investigated and considered by court, extradition will be out of the question, the Kommersant daily reported referring to a source in the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office.
