MOSCOW, May 23 - RAPSI, Diana Gutsul. The Moscow District Court dismissed an appeal by Nikolai Savelyev, accused of kidnapping a son of businessman Yevgeny Kaspersky, against the extension of his arrest.
Ivan Kaspersky, the twenty year-old son of Kaspersky Laboratory CEO was kidnapped on April 19. He was released on April 24 after a special operation was carried out in the area of the Moscow Region where he was kept.
Law enforcement authorities said five individuals suspected of kidnapping were detained. They were charged with kidnapping and extortion.
Vladimir Markin, the Investigative Committee's official spokesperson, said in a previous statement that the rumour that the kidnapping was organized by one of Kaspersky Laboratory CEO's rivals has not been confirmed.
Two of the suspects have fully admitted their guilt. One of them said his involvement in the crime was down to his urgent need of money.
The kidnappers had asked for a ransom of three million euros.
All the detained individuals are unemployed, two of them have previous criminal records.
