MOSCOW, June 4 - RAPSI. The Investigative Committee has said that it has initiated criminal proceedings against famous journalist Bozhena Rynska for insulting a police officer.
Last Saturday, the investigative authorities opened a criminal case against Rynska for publicly insulting a police officer during the unauthorized opposition rally on December 6, 2011. She posted photos of the police officer who detained her on her blog and left comments insulting the police officer personally and the police in general.
"The investigative authorities have initiated a criminal case against journalist Bozhena Rynska. She is charged with offending a police officer," the Investigative Committee reported.
It has been reported Rynska has given written undertaking not to leave the city.
The Criminal Code stipulates a sentence of up to one year of corrective labor for insulting a public officer.
