OMSK, June 7 - RAPSI. The Supreme Court has sided with the Omsk Regional authorities' claim to oblige the city of Omsk to transfer $60 million from the city to the regional budget for the running of hospitals recently transferred to the Omsk Region's ownership.
In accordance with amendments to Russian legislation which came into force on January 1, municipal healthcare institutions have been transferred to the authority of constituent entities. The Omsk Region was vested with the responsibility of over 280 real estate plots and 60 hospitals.
The Omsk city authorities, however, strove to keep the money in the city budget. Omsk city council reported that the assigning $60 million for the running of regional hospitals would unbalance the city budget. The regional authorities were forced to take the city to court.
"The Supreme Court...has supported our position. It has ruled against the city authorities on all counts," Omsk Deputy Governor Andrei Besshtanko said in Twitter.
