MOSCOW, June 9 - RAPSI. President Vladimir Putin believes Russia must start broadcasting court hearings online and advocates introducing a proper environment for legal journalism.
"We need to make all court decisions more unified and open, and in the long term, wherever it is possible and appropriate, to broadcast court hearings online and publish verbatim reports on them," Putin said at a meeting on developing the judicial system on Friday.
Putin believes that this level of transparency will without doubt increase judicial responsibility and reduce room for various subjective approaches when making judgments.
The president calls to create a proper environment for legal journalism. "All issues ranging from accreditation to the submission of materials must be solved promptly and according to new, up-to-date criteria. This will increase opportunities for public discussion of urgent legal issues. It will promote the growth of a sense of justice and legal awareness in our citizens," Putin added.
