WARSAW, June 19 - RAPSI. A Russian football fan detained on suspicion of being involved in fighting in Wroclaw has admitted to the offence and is facing up to one year in prison, as well as a fine, RIA Novosti reports on Tuesday.
The fight took place on June 8 after the Russia- Czech Republic game. While the match was in progress, one of the fans lit a fire. When security men attempted to detain him, other fans started a brawl.
The Russian Football Union now may be ordered to pay a large fine.
The Polish police have examined video evidence of the fighting and have issued photos of those involved in the fight. Over ten individuals are on the wanted list. Some of them have been identified.
On Sunday, two suspects aged 21 and 25 were detained at the Belarus border. They have been charged with beating up Wroclaw stadium employees, said the police.
One of the detainees has pleaded guilty. The prosecution office is seeking to have him sentenced to one year in prison and also pay a $295 fine to the victims. In addition, the accused may be banned from attending football matches in the EU.
The second fan has denied the charges and his case has also been submitted to court.
