MOSCOW, July 5 - RAPSI. The Zamoskvoretsky District Court will open on July 11 the presentations in the criminal case against former YUKOS co-owner Vladimir Dubov, who has been charged with embezzling state funds, the Khodorkovsky press center told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) on Thursday.
Dubov's counsel Leonid Saikin said “absent the event of a crime, the defense will request an acquittal during the presentations.”
The trial began in November and has so far proceeded behind closed doors.
Dubov was earlier placed on the international wanted list. However, his extradition was denied.
According to investigators, Dubov caused damages worth 76 billion non-redenominated rubles ($13 million).
The prosecution maintains that the large-scale embezzlement was committed by breaching a trilateral agreement between the Finance Ministry, the YUKOS subsidiary
Yuganskneftegaz and a regional administration.
Dubov is suspected of embezzling budget funds allocated for housing construction for servicemen.
