MOSCOW, July 10 - RAPSI. The Moscow police are examining opposition leader Alexei Navalny's application on the illegal cracking of his email, the Interior Ministry's press service told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
Navalny filed the application with the Investigative Committee, but it was forwarded to the police.
He previously wrote in his LiveJournal blog that his email and Twitter micro-blog had been hacked "evidently through computers/tablets seized during the recent search."
He made the statement 20 minutes after abusive language appeared on his micro-blog.
The Investigative Committee later called the statements false, although Navalny continued to allege that his email and blog had been hacked into via his computer.
"Media reports on Navalny's plans to file a complaint will not be brushed aside. If Navalny files a claim, an investigation will definitely be initiated," a committee source told RIA Novosti. The source also denied the allegations of coercion against the suspects detained after the Bolotnaya Square riots in Moscow on May 6.
Navalny and other opposition figures are witnesses in the case.
Clashes with the police flared up during a procession across Moscow, which had been approved by the authorities. Dozens on both sides were injured. The police detained over 400 protesters.
