MOSCOW, July 12 - RAPSI. Members of the A Just Russia and Communist Party groups in the State Duma have prepared for the Constitutional Court lawsuits to ensure that the laws on direct governor elections and punishments for rally violations correspond with the Constitution.
The opposition groups have gathered the necessary number of signatures from deputies and are determined to submit the documents to the Constitutional Court on July 13. A Just Russia faction head Sergei Mironov said the members of both parties divided the work between them to prepare all the necessary documents.
He added that the lawsuit regarding punishments has already been prepared.
The opposition groups will dispute both the procedure of the laws' adoption and their content, as they believe both violate the Constitution. During the second reading of the law, the opposition MPs went on an "Italian strike" that eventually led to an 11-hour-long discussion of the document during the State Duma session. A Just Russia members left the plenary meeting before the voting on the bill in the third reading.
