MOSCOW, July 12 - RAPSI. The investigation has completed into the murder of former Col. Yury Budanov, who was convicted in one of the most high-profile Chechen war crime trials, the Russian Legal Information Agency reports on Thursday.
The investigation has also finished looking into Magomed Suleimanov's role in his death, Suleimanov's attorney Murad Musayev told RAPSI.
The attorney said he does not rule out that Suleimanov will request to be tried by jury. Suleimanov has been charged with first-degree murder and illegal arms possession.
Investigators maintain that Suleimanov and several unidentified individuals bought a car with a fake license plate, arms and a silencer. They then followed Budanov as he entered the courtyard of his apartment building in Moscow. Suleimanov then exited the vehicle and shot him dead.
Suleimanov denied the charges and asked the court to change his measure of restraint.
