MOSCOW, August 14 - RAPSI, Diana Gutsul. The Moscow Presnensky District Court has extended until October 18 the arrest of two Moscow high-ranking police officers on charges of fraud and attempting to extort $150,000, the victim's representative in the case told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com).
The court has satisfied the investigation's application to extend the arrest of Lieutenant Colonel Vladislav Klimenko and his colleague Alexei Marugin, who were previously employed with the Interior Ministry's economic crimes and combating corruption department.
Businessman Igor Desyatnikov submitted an application to the Internal Affairs Department in 2011, stating that his former business partners stole his shares in Russian Financial Alliance.
According to the representative, over 90 percent of the shares belonging to Desyatnikov, who was then in the United States, were stolen by counterfeiting the minutes of shareholder meetings. A mediator later offered to open a criminal case for Desyatnikov for $150,000.
As soon as Desyatnikov appealed to the law enforcement authorities, an inspection was initiated. The maximum sentence for the crime is 10 years in prison.
