MOSCOW, August 22 – RAPSI. The Moscow Regional Court has extended the arrest of the alleged organizers of the terrorist attack at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport by six months, the court spokesperson told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) on Wednesday.
“The court has extended the arrest of Islam and Ilez Yandiyev, Akhmed Yevloyev and Bashir Khamkhoyev,” the court’s representatives stated.
The preliminary hearing was held on August 20 behind closed doors. The hearings of the criminal case will commence on August 27 and will also be held behind closed doors.
On January 24, 2011, a bomb was detonated in the airport's international arrivals hall, killing 37 people.
According to Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin, the attack was planned by Doku Umarov, who controlled a criminal group headed by Aslan Byutukayev and Supyan Abdullayev. The alleged suicide bomber, Magomed Yevloyev, underwent training at a camp in Ingushetia.
The prosecutor's office maintains that the group helped Yevloyev get to Moscow, where he was delivered the bomb at a rented apartment.
An international search is underway for Umarov, Byutukayev and one other suspect. In total, 28 individuals are suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack.
