MOSCOW, September 4 - RAPSI. The Cambodian police are determined to extradite Pirate Bay co-founder Gottfrid Svartholm to Sweden as soon as the country's Foreign Ministry makes the appropriate decision, AP reported on Tuesday citing Deputy Police Chief Sok Phal.
Pirate Bay was established in November 2003 and is one of the worlds 100 most visited websites. The portal renders services in 30 languages, including Russian. In 2006, the Swedish police confiscated Pirate Bay's computers and servers, but the website resumed work several days later. Its servers are now located outside Sweden.
In April 2009, a Stockholm court sentenced Pirate Bay's four founders Carl Lundstroem, Fredrik Neij, Peter Sunde and Svartholm to a year in prison and around 3 million euro
in compensation for assisting in the illegal exchange of files and gaining profits from these activities.
According to the prosecution, the portal earned about one million euro per year.
