MOSCOW, September 18 - RAPSI. The Hatsina City Prosecutor's Office (Leningrad Region) has submitted a claim for the recovery of $129,240 from Russian Railways on behalf of two children whose mother was killed by a train.
The Leningrad Prosecutor's Office reported on Tuesday that a woman was hit by a train in March 2011. The office said the woman had two children who were left without any means of subsistence. Their father did not live with them, and their grandmother became their guardian.
"Russian Railways, as an owner of a source of increased danger, is obligated to compensate for damages caused to individuals who lost income after the death of a breadwinner, regardless of whose fault it is," according to the prosecutor's office.
The prosecutor's office has submitted to the court a statement of claim asking Russian Railways to pay each child 45,000 rubles ($1,453), with following monthly payments of 2,270 rubles ($73), and also to pay four million rubles ($129,240) for moral harm.
