MOSCOW, September 20 - RAPSI. Entrepreneur Alexei Kozlov, who was sentenced to five years in prison for securities fraud, filed an appeal with the Ivanovo Region Yuzhski Court for a reconsideration of his parole, his attorney Alkhaz Abgadzhava told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) Thursday.

"Alexei appealed the ruling dismissing his parole," Abgadzhava said and added that he will submit an additional appeal on Friday.

In his appeal he cites the discrepancy of the court rulings with the case's circumstances. Particularly, the attorney said that the court ruling reads that the prison objected to Kozlov's release on parole. At the same time the protocol of the commission's meeting reads that after considering all the materials, the prison decided to uphold his appeal.

Now the appeal will be considered by the Ivanovo Region Court.

According to investigators, Kozlov and two other individuals stole 626,000 shares from Izkozh, a company that produces artificial leather and film materials, by using forged documents and false front companies. Kozlov was arrested and in 2009 he was sentenced to eight years in prison. Then the Moscow City Court reduced the sentence.

Kozlov's defense team and his wife Olga Romanova, who is a journalist, have stated on numerous occasions that the case was falsified.
