MOSCOW, September 24 - RAPSI. Mobile courtrooms will be introduced in Russia as part of the government-endorsed federal program named The Development of Russia's Judicial System from 2013 to 2020, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports.
The program states that commercial courts will have mobile offices for holding on-site hearings in remote areas.
The program will include rolling out widespread IT provision in courts, developing expert examination units and resolving housing problems for judges.
Over 90 billion rubles ($2.9 billion) have been allocated for improving the judiciary system.
"It is proposed that specially equipped minibuses will act as mobile courtrooms," the program reads. Its facilities will of course include technology for video conferences.
Mobile courtrooms will make the administration of justice more open and accessible.
"The courts of general jurisdiction will also offer e-justice services, which include a simpler procedure for filing complaints online, obtaining copies of documents and reading case materials," says the program.
The federal courts of general jurisdiction are equipped with 376 mobile witness protection systems.
This technology allows witnesses to testify in court without revealing their identity.
