MOSCOW, November 23 - RAPSI. Following an expert assessment, an Irkutsk court has fined an entrepreneur who sold shirts and cups with Nazi symbols, the Prosecutor General's Office has reported on Friday.
The police discovered that Galina Syrovatskaya was selling the items at a trade pavilion in August. During the trial, Syrovatskaya pleaded innocent, stating that she did not agree with the assessment. The court found her guilty of committing an administrative violation, fined her and seized the items. Syrovatskaya appealed the ruling.
An expert with a PhD in history who was attracted to the case stated that the images on the items were similar to the Third Reich's coat of arms - an eagle with unfolded wings. The Kirovsky District Court upheld the earlier ruling in the case, and held against Syrovatskaya's appeal.
A bill is now pending in the State Duma that proposes increasing the liability for propaganda and displaying Nazi and extremist items, and imposes punishment for using the symbols of extremist organizations.
