MOSCOW, November 27 - RAPSI. Russian oligarch Shalva Chigirinsky savagely abused his ex-wife Tatiana Panchenkova for years, The New York Post reported Monday citing a civil claim filed by Panchenkova last month in a Connecticut court.
According to the report, the claim – which alleges assault, false imprisonment, and the intentional infliction of emotional distress – stated that while married to Chigirinsky, Panchenkova endured “a decade of brutal and barbaric physical, psychological and emotional abuse.”
According to his Forbes billionaire listing profile, the Georgian-born Chigirinsky studied medicine in Moscow before starting his first real estate business in the late 1980s. He made his billions in the oil and real estate businesses.
Chiriginsky is no stranger to legal drama. As previously reported by RAPSI, Chigirinksy’s development company ST Development sued the Moscow authorities in 2009 for real estate contract claims ultimately amounting to 4,782 million rubles (approximately $154 million), in a case that is still pending.
Chigirinsky attracted the wrath of Russia’s federal tax agency after he fell into trouble with his creditors in the Fall of 2008. In December 2011, a Moscow district court has held in favor of the tax service's lawsuit to collect approximately 15 million rubles (approximately $475,000) in tax arrears from him.
