MOSCOW, December 18 - RAPSI. Employees of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Interpol have released a Russian citizen from a prison in the United Arab Emirates. She was detained because her surname, name, patronymic, and date of birth completely matched the data of a criminal who was on the international wanted list, the Interior Ministry reported on Tuesday.
A Russian national, who lived and worked in Dubai, was mistakenly detained on October 31, but the information about this incident has only recently come to light. "The woman managed to report the tragic coincidence, which almost ended with her imprisonment, to her mother, who lives in Russia."
"The woman's mother contacted the Krasnoyarsk branch of the National Central Bureau of Interpol," the report states.
Representatives of the UAE's law enforcement authorities were persuaded that they had detained the wrong individual and the Russian was released. She had spent four days in custody.
