MOSCOW, February 20 - RAPSI. Minor offenders and defendants sentenced to house arrest in Russia will be monitored by electronic tags, which transmit a GLONASS/GPS signal to a base handset connected to a monitoring service.
According to the resolution posted on the government's website, these devices include electronic bracelets, as well as stationary and mobile monitoring equipment, retransmitters and personal trackers.
The list also includes audiovisual gear and equipment for regional information centers.
The resolution sets out the procedure for the penal authorities' use of the aforementioned monitoring methods.
Electronic bracelets are attached to the offenders (defendants), while stationary monitoring devices and transmitters will be set up in the place of detention/house arrest.
Audiovisual monitoring equipment can be mounted in the place of detention/house arrest or worn by the offender/defendant upon leaving the place.
Moreover, audiovisual equipment can be set up in the place of detention/house arrest only upon written permission from those who live with the offender/defendant.
